The Oral Roberts athletics department is mourning the loss of former men’s basketball coach Dick Acres, who passed away last week.
Acres led the ORU men’s basketball program from 1982-1985 and took the Titans to the NCAA tournament, the second appearance in school history. In his three seasons as the coach, Acres won 58 percent of his games (47-34) and claimed the 1983-84 Midwestern Collegiate Conference championship.
His tenure was aided by his two sons, Mark and Jeff, who both rank in the top-10 in career scoring.
