Former ULM coach elected to HOF

Former Louisiana-Monroe men’s basketball coach Mike Vining has been elected to the Louisiana Basketball Hall of Fame. Vining becomes the third ULM coach to be honored by the LABC, joining Lenny Fant (1984) and Benny Hollis (1988).

Vining is the winningest coach in school history with 401 career victories in 24 seasons at ULM (1981-2005). The Warhawks won seven Southland Conference titles and made seven NCAA Tournament appearances under Vining’s tutelage. In addition, ULM had seven Southland Player of the Year honorees and 46 all-conference selections under Vining.

Vining will be inducted at the LABC’s 38th Annual Awards Banquet on May 5 in Baton Rouge, La.
