Former URI Assistant Boswell named Head Coach at The MacDuffie School

The MacDuffie School has hired Tyron Boswell as Director of Basketball and Head Coach of the prep program. Boswell comes to Granby after spending three seasons as an assistant coach and one as director of basketball operations at the University of Rhode Island under Dan Hurley (UCONN) finishing 51-18 and winning an A-10 Conference Championship. Boswell was instrumental in recruiting players from all regions, his relentless work ethic made him one of the best recruiters in the region. 

MacDuffie is no stranger to high major prospects as they just had two alums be selected in this year’s NBA draft. James Bouknight – Hornets #11 and Dalano Banton – Toronto #47

Boswell spent the previous seven years with the Nike EYBL Expressions Elite youth basketball program. He was the director of basketball operations for Expressions Elite, where he oversaw all aspects of organization’s day-to-day operations, including coaching, individual instruction, and player development. 

While with Expressions Elite, Boswell was an integral part of the player development efforts for several professional and high-level Division I players.  Boswell also was key in the development of close to 40 Division I players, including standouts Abdul Malik Abu (N.C. State), Jared Terrell (URI), Tyrique Jones (Xavier), Jared Wilson Frame (Pittsburgh), Kamani Lawrence (Arizona State) and Cane Broome (Cincinnati). A 2016 graduate of Northeastern University, 2019 masters graduated of University of Rhode Island
