Fort Lewis coach to take leave

Fort Lewis College men’s basketball coach Bob Hofman will take an indefinite medical leave of absence, Director of Athletics Gary Hunter announced today. Associate head coach Bob Pietrack will immediately begin serving as interim head coach.

Hofman’s absence could be as short as a few weeks or as long as the remainder of the season. The longtime coach is having problems with his left shoulder and his hearing and has had shoulder surgery within the past 18 months.

Hofman, who is in his 17th (and 13th consecutive) season as FLC’s head men’s basketball coach, is far and away the winningest coach in school history. During his 17 seasons, he’s posted a 310-164 overall record (.654).
