Fort Lewis College will celebrate the career of legendary basketball coach, Bob Hofman, on February 12 by naming the court in Whalen Gymnasium in his honor. FLC will recognize his accomplishments during a ceremony prior to the men’s basketball game vs. Western State Colorado University, which begins at 7:30 p.m.
Hofman, who is serving as emeritus coach for FLC in his final season, is capping a career that has spanned nearly four decades of Colorado basketball as a player and coach. In 19 years as head coach at FLC, Hofman owns every coaching record in the history of Skyhawk Men’s Basketball: wins (359), winning percentage (.654), league wins (245), league winning percentage (.683), and most seasons as a head coach (19). During his tenure in Durango, Hofman’s teams won three Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) regular season crowns, four RMAC postseason championships, six RMAC West Division titles, and earned seven NCAA Division II playoff berths. As a matter of RMAC basketball trivia: Hofman is the winningest coach in basketball history at both FLC and Western State Colorado University.
