Patrick Frost will join the Point Loma men’s basketball staff this season as an assistant coach, announced newly hired head coach Matt Logie.
Frost spent last season at Western Oregon, and helped the Wolves earn an at-large bid in the NCAA West Regional. Prior to going to WOU, Frost spent two seasons as the Video Coordinator at the University of San Diego.
Before going to USD, Frost was an assistant coach for three seasons with Logie at Whitworth University. During his time, the Pirates complied a record of 74-12 and won three Northwest Conference Championships. Frost coached three All-Americans while at Whitworth, along with numerous all-league players. In 2016, Whitworth finished 26-2, and spent four weeks ranked as the No. 1 team in the country.
“Patrick Frost was the absolute first person I wanted to join our basketball family at Point Loma upon my hiring,” said coach Logie. “Patrick and I have known each other for over 25 years, as he was actually a ball boy for my high school state championship team and later played for my grandfather at Mercer Island HS. He was also an integral part of our program for three years at Whitworth, helping to build the foundation for teams that were ranked consistently among the top-five teams in the country.
“Patrick has an outstanding basketball mind and tremendous work ethic, however, what sets Patrick apart is his ability to build relationships,” added Logie. “Quite frankly, I’ve yet to meet a person that doesn’t absolutely love him. Our players will benefit greatly from his investment into them and he knows exactly what our program is about. Patrick brings the perfect mix of trust, experience, and relationships to our family and I know that our players, families, and campus community will absolutely love being around him.”
His coaching duties include recruiting, assisting with offensive strategy, scouting reports, running individual workouts and more.
