BYU coach Dave Rose announced today the hiring of Cody Fueger as the program’s director of basketball operations. Fueger replaces Mike Hall, who has accepted a position as an academic advisor in the Student Athlete Academic Center.

"Cody brings great experience to our program," Rose said. "He’s got a terrific track record in the business and has earned the trust of several great coaches. He’s been given tremendous responsibility everywhere he’s been and has had great success. We’re excited to have him on our staff."

Fueger comes to BYU with 11 years of experience in college basketball at four different programs, including stops at Utah State, UC Riverside, Louisiana Tech and Utah.

Last season Fueger was the director of basketball operations at Utah State. He was responsible for the program’s daily office operations, served as the team’s travel coordinator and edited scout and game film. Fueger also assisted with the team’s international scouting, public and community relations and served as summer camp coordinator.

Prior to Utah State, Fueger served as director of operations for the UC Riverside men’s basketball team during the 2011-12 season. At UC Riverside he oversaw the administrative aspects of the program including community outreach, practice coordination, film exchange, travel and the hiring and supervision of graduate assistants and student managers.

From 2007 to 2011, Fueger was the director of operations at Louisiana Tech. His responsibilities at Louisiana Tech included film exchange, scouting video, on-campus recruiting and directing graduate assistants and team managers.

Fueger got his start in college basketball at Utah, where he served as the video coordinator and student assistant for five years for the men’s basketball team.

A native of Milwaukee, Wis., Fueger earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from Utah in 2006. A year later he earned his master’s degree from Utah in parks, recreation and tourism-sports management. Fueger and his wife Danielle have a daughter, Isabella.

In his new position as an academic advisor in the Student Athlete Academic Center, Hall will work with the men’s basketball, softball and the men’s and women’s swimming and diving programs. Hall served as the director of basketball operations for BYU men’s basketball from 2010 to 2013. During the three seasons with Hall on the staff, BYU won 20-plus games each year and received at-large bids to the NCAA Tournament in 2011 and 2012 and the NIT in 2013.

Hall played for the Cougars from 2003 to 2005 after transferring to BYU from Dixie State. He was the Mountain West Conference Defensive Player of the Year in 2004 and helped lead the Cougars to the NCAA Tournament that same season. In his two seasons at BYU, Hall averaged 13.3 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.5 steals and started 58 of 60 games played.
