Ander Galfsky will begin his first season on the VMI basketball staff as an assistant coach after arriving from Campbell University where he served three years.
At Campbell, Galfsky served as Director of Basketball Operations and played a vital role in a program under head coach Kevin McGeehan that reached post-season play in three consecutive years and won 57 games. In 2019, the Camels captured the Big South regular season championship and participated in the NIT for the first time in program history. Campbell also made postseason runs with a semifinal appearance in the College Basketball Invitational in 2018 and a quarterfinal run in the 2017 College Insider Tournament.
Galfsky handled duties at Campbell that included internal scheduling, liaison to the compliance office, oversight of team managers, equipment ordering and ticket requests. He also served as Director of Campbell Basketball Camps. As the assistant director of basketball operations his first year at Campbell, Galfsky handled travel logistics, film exchange, video analysis of games and practices while also playing a support role in camps, alumni events and on-campus visits.
After graduating from Birmingham-Southern College with a B.A. in history in 2015, Galfsky served as an athletics department graduate assistant during the 2015-16 academic term at Auburn University and worked in performance analysis software programs and also served as game/event manager for gymnastics and women’s tennis while assisting in game operations for football, volleyball, men’s tennis, and softball.
During his collegiate playing career at Birmingham-Southern, Galfsky played on a SCAC regular season championship team that earned an NCAA Division III national tournament berth.
His coaching experience includes serving as 15U and 16U assistant coach for the Nike/Adidas Southeast Elite AAU team in Birmingham and working in camps conducted by Birmingham-Southern, Lausanne Collegiate, the University of Mississippi and the Memphis Grizzlies.
A native of Memphis, Tennessee, Galfsky was an all-state performer at Lausanne Collegiate.
