University of Hawai’i athletics director David Matlin announced that men’s basketball head coach Eran Ganot has signed a three-year contract extension. His extension runs through the 2025-26 season.
Ganot just completed his seventh season leading the Rainbow Warrior basketball program and holds a 114-77 overall record. This past March he surpassed Red Rocha as the school’s second all-time winningest coach. Meanwhile, his current win percentage (.597) is the best of any UH coach in the collegiate era.
“During Coach Ganot’s tenure, UH basketball has been filled with many memorable triumphs and milestones,” Matlin said. “This sustained success is made possible by the culture Coach Ganot has built. It’s a culture, first and foremost, that has focused on the overall well-being and success of our student-athletes. We’re extremely proud of Coach Ganot and the phenomenal young men he has recruited and developed here at UH. And we are energized for what’s in store for Rainbow Warrior basketball under his continued leadership.”
Ganot said: “My family and I are thrilled to continue to call Hawai’i our home. I’m very thankful for the great people in the community, the University and the Athletic Department. I also feel very blessed to have been able to work with such tremendous coaches and student-athletes over the years. We’ve all worked extremely hard to build a top-notch program. The foundation has been set and we’re excited to take the program to the next level. Mahalo!”
Last year, despite losing two projected starters before the season even began, Ganot led UH to its fifth straight winning season, highlighted by a 10-5 conference mark. Just two UH coaches – Ganot and Riley Wallace – have led UH to as many consecutive winning seasons. The Rainbow Warriors return 10 players from last year’s squad that finished 17-11.
