George Mason Dirt…

George Mason is getting close to hiring a replacement for Paul Hewitt. It sounds like they are down to the final two – UC Irvine head coach Russell Turner, and NC Central head coach LeVelle Moton. Turner led the Anteaters to a 21-13 record and an NCAA appearance this past season. In his five years at UC Irvine, he is 90-70. Turner was an assistant with the Golden State Warriors for six seasons, and has also worked at Stanford and Wake Forest. Moton led his team to the NCAA’s last season, and the NIT this season (25-8). He is a NCCU alum, who became the head coach in 2009 (114-75 career record). Sounds like Turner is the leader here, and that this one could be done as early as tomorrow – I’ll keep you posted as I hear more.
