HoopDirt.com can confirm that Georgetown will hire Hofstra’s Akbar Waheed as an assistant coach. He will replace Tavares Hardy who became an assistant on Josh Pastner’s staff at Georgia Tech earlier this month.

Last year was Waheed’s first as an assistant coach at Hofstra. He also served as an assistant at Boston College (2010-2014) and spent 11-seasons before that working for current Hofstra head coach Joe Mihalich while they were at Niagara.

An official announcement is expected this week.
