Saint Augustine’s University has added Gordon Gibbons as Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach, the University announced.
Gibbons comes to St. Aug as one of the all-time winningest coaches on the NCAA Division II level. For the past 12 seasons, Gibbons was head coach at Clayton State University, where he is the school’s career leader in wins (221) and winning percentage for men’s basketball. Prior to coaching at Clayton State, Gibbons was the head coach at Florida Southern College, where his teams compiled 246 wins in 10 years. Overall, Gibbons won 467 games in 22 seasons as a NCAA Division II head basketball coach.
"My relationship with Gordon has been over 20-plus years," said St. Aug Head Men’s Basketball Coach Tony Sheals. "I am fortunate to have a man with his experience and knowledge of the game of basketball. We have made a slam dunk with the hiring of Gordon Gibbons."
The addition of Gibbons completes Coach Sheals’ staff. Assistant Coach MarQus Johnson was retained from the previous staff.
