Charles Goar has been named as the first-ever head men’s basketball coach at Texas A&M University-Texarkana.
Goar had served as the head coach at the University of the Southwest from 2013-18. Texarkana will be joining the NAIA Red River Athletic Conference – the league that USW played in, so Goar is familiar with the competition.
Before becoming the head coach at USW, Goar spent six seasons as an assistant at Mid-America Christian University.
At an introductory press conference yesterday, Goar commented, “It is truly a blessing to be a part of this great university and this great city. We’re really excited to bring in quality student-athletes to the university. We want to win championships, but we also want to engage the community and give back.”
