Justin Griffith has been named as an assistant coach for the Mount Olive College men’s basketball team, it was announced by Trojan head coach Joey Higginbotham. Griffith will also serve as head coach of the Trojan junior varsity men’s basketball team.
Griffith graduated in May with a B.S. degree in business administration from North Carolina Wesleyan College, where he was a member of the men’s basketball team and performed an internship with the men’s basketball program this past spring semester. Through his internship, Griffith assisted in recruiting, scouting, developing practice plans and post-season strength and conditioning.
On the court, Griffith averaged 8.6 points and 3.0 rebounds per game in 2011-12. He shot 48.3 percent overall from the field and from three-point range. He was a co-captain during his junior and senior years, and North Carolina Wesleyan won USA South Conference championships in his sophomore and junior years.
Mount Olive posted a 21-8 record in 2011-12 and finished second in the Conference Carolinas East Division with a 12-4 mark. The Trojans reached the championship game of the 2012 Conference Carolinas Tournament.
