UNC Asheville men’s basketball head coach Mike Morrell recently announced the addition of Corey Guderyahn as the Director of Basketball Operations.

Guderyahn joins the UNC Asheville men’s basketball program after working with Morrell on Shaka Smart’s staff at Texas as a graduate assistant.

“We are very excited to have Corey join our program,” Morrell said. “He is someone that I have worked with at Texas for the last two years. He is extremely loyal and hard-working. He will be great in his role at UNC Asheville.”

Guderyahn is truly appreciative of the opportunity at UNC Asheville.

“I was honored and blessed when Coach Morrell asked me to be a part of his staff, and I jumped at the opportunity to work for someone I believe in and his approach to building a program,” Guderyahn said. “I believe that UNC Asheville has such a great basketball tradition in place and I look forward to helping to build on that in the future.”

Originally from Round Rock, Texas, Guderyahn attended St. Edward’s University where he played for one of his coaching mentors in Andre Cook.

Guderyahn was named to the NABC Honors Court in both the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons at St. Edward’s.

Guderyahn graduated from St. Edward’s with a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology with the ability to teach early childhood through 12th grade. He just recently finished his master’s degree in Sports Management at the University of Texas.
