Alex Hansen, a 2014 graduate of Willamette University who has compiled an impressive resume since graduating in 2014, has joined the Colorado College men’s basketball program as assistant coach.
“Alex is very sharp and charismatic,” head coach Andy Partee said. “He brings a great deal of experience and has a passion for winning. Alex is a great fit for CC and I am thrilled to add him to our staff.”
Hansen will be assisting in all facets of the Colorado College program, with an emphasis in recruiting, scheduling, player development, practice and game planning, as well as scouting of opponents.
A native of Reno, Nev., Hansen spent the last two seasons as the lead assistant coach and defensive coordinator at Haverford College. During his tenure with the Fords, Hansen was involved in all aspects of the program.
He created and implemented opponent scouting reports, contributed to daily practice plans and organized and executed team-wide shooting workouts.
Hansen also directed Haverford’s recruiting efforts, serving as the program’s liaison with the Haverford Admissions Office. He personally recruited the northeast and west coast, two areas in which Colorado College has enjoyed considerable success.
Hansen worked and recruited at numerous camps, including those at Harvard, Yale, Dartmouth, Brown, Penn and UC San Diego. He also worked with organizations such as Hoopgroup, Zero Gravity, Pro Skills Basketball and West Coast Elite.
Prior to his arrival in Haverford, Pa., Hansen spent two seasons (2015-17) as an assistant coach at Emerson College in Boston.
Duing his final semester at Willamette, the sociology major served as the athletics department’s Student Director of Career Outreach. In that role, Hansen helped facilitate relationships and information between current student-athletes and alumni, and organized the Athletic Alumni Night.
As a senior, Hansen started all 25 games for the Bearcats and finished fourth on the team averaging 9.7 points per game.
Hansen will officially begin his duties at Colorado College on Aug. 1
