HoopDirt.com can confirm that Hartford head coach John Gallagher has hired John Linehan as an assistant coach. He was most recently an assistant on Mike Martin’s staff at Brown University.
The Providence College graduate is the NCAA DI all-time leader in steals (385 in 122 games), and was the National Defensive Player of the Year in 2002. After graduation, he spent 11 seasons playing professionally overseas.
Hartford has been rebuilding their staff this off-season, as they’ve lost assistant coaches Ivo Simovic (Charlotte – assistant coach), Jarret von Rosenburg (Texas A&M Commerce – head coach), and Coordinator of Men’s Basketball Player Development Donnie Carr (La Salle – assistant coach).
An official announcement on Linehan’s hiring is expected shortly.
