Western Michigan University announced on Wednesday, Aug. 3, that Steve Hawkins received a contract extension that was made effective as of May 1, 2011 and carries through April 30, 2016. Hawkins has led WMU men’s basketball to five Mid-American Conference West Division titles and has never finished lower than second during his tenure.

The adjusted guaranteed annual compensation includes a base salary amount of $210,000 plus $100,000 for public, radio and television appearances. As a part of this extension, the incentive package was restructured with a stronger emphasis on MAC regular season and tournament championships.
