Hill Joins South Dakota Men’s Basketball Staff

University of South Dakota men’s basketball coach Todd Lee announced the newest member of his staff with the addition of Eddie Hill as an assistant coach.
 
“Eddie brings a ton of energy and experience,” Lee said. “He has a lot of coaching experience at the Division 1 level, EYBL circuit and also has owned and ran a very successful business. He will be a great role model and mentor for our young men.”
 
Hill boasts over 20 years of working as a basketball coach in the EYBL circuit or the college ranks. Hill most recently was the Co-Head Coach of the 17U Nike EYBL team in Dallas Texas. He handled all opponent scouting, game plan creation and in-game adjustments. During the 2018-19 season he was the head basketball coach and general manager for the Plano Mighty Kings in Plano, Texas. He was tasked with building a new ABA professional basketball team. He was responsible for building a roster, coaching the team and managing all aspects of basketball operations.
 
In 2002 Hill became an Executive Recruiter at Kaye/Bassman Intl. and after four years he reached the position of Managing Partner. In 2006 he started his own executive search firm called 2inspire Recruiting Ltd. He is responsible for day-to-day operation and execution of senior level executive recruitment of candidates across the US, Europe, Asia and Latin America.

Prior to 2002 Hill was an assistant basketball coach and recruiting coordinator at the University of Portland where he oversaw all aspects of recruiting. Portland’s 2001 recruiting class was ranked first in the West Coast Conference. This was Hill’s second stint in Portland after being on the staff in 1995.
 
Hill served in the capacity at the University of Texas – El Paso, San Jose State and California State University – Northridge prior to Portland. San Jose’s 1999 recruiting class ranked 17th in the nation while Cal State Northridge’s 1997 class ranked 35th in the nation.
 
Hill got his start in coaching at Portland in 1995. In his first stint with the Pilots he assisted with student-athletes recruiting activities and was in charge of the recruiting efforts for the team.
 
Before he got into the college coaching ranks, Hill worked with at-risk youth as a group counselor for the Center for Community Mental Health in Portland, Oregon.
 
Hill earned his bachelor of science in psychology at Washington State in 1994 after playing four years of basketball under head coach Kelvin Sampson.  Hill and his wife, Simone, have three sons.
