Talladega College Head Men’s Basketball Coach Chris Wright announced the hiring of Jeff Hinshaw as his top assistant coach.

“I feel extremely blessed to be able to add Jeff Hinshaw to our staff,” said Coach Wright. “He is a tremendous person that I have a great deal of trust and respect for. I have no doubt that he will be a great addition not only to our program but to Talladega College as a whole. He possesses a tireless work ethic, and truly understands what it takes to win big. Our players are going to greatly benefit from being around him every day and he is going to play a huge role in us continuing to compete for a national championship.”

Hinshaw comes to Talladega College after spending the 2018-2019 season in a similar role at Martin Methodist. Under Head Coach Dugan Lyne, Hinshaw was involved in every facet of the program. Prior to Martin Methodist he also served as an assistant at Missouri S&T and Fort Scott Community College. In his one season at Fort Scott he helped lead the Greyhounds to a third-place finish in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference’s Eastern Division while developing two All-Conference and All-Region Selections.

Hinshaw began his career by spending two seasons as an assistant coach at William Woods University. In year one he helped the Owls host their first ever American Midwest Conference Tournament Game. In the following season Williams Woods earned their first ever twenty-win season along with the program’s first ever national ranking. The team advanced to the AMC Conference Championship game, falling one game short of the NAIA National Tournament. He assisted in the recruitment of four All-AMC selections and two NAIA All-Americans.

“I would like to thank Coach Chris Wright for allowing me the opportunity to join his staff,” said Coach Hinshaw. “I would also like to thank Dr. Billy Hawkins, Coach Kevin Herod, and Demond Walker for providing me the chance to represent Talladega College and its rich history of excellence. Coach Wright and his staff set the bar high in their first year at Talladega, and I look forward to working with our players and staff to ensure our program continues to uphold high standards of excellence.”

Hinshaw received his undergraduate degree in Sports Management from Fontbonne University in St. Louis where he finished his college career at. He also earned a master’s degree in Athletic Administration from William Woods University.
