Hoffman returns from leave at Ft. Lewis

Fort Lewis College men’s basketball coach Bob Hofman has received medical clearance to return from his medical leave of absence, Director of Athletics Gary Hunter announced.

Hofman stepped away from his coaching duties last Friday. In the interim, his longtime associate head coach, Bob Pietrack, guided the No. 17 Skyhawks (11-1 overall, 8-1 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) to a pair of home court victories last weekend. Fort Lewis beat New Mexico Highlands 81-60 on Friday and Western New Mexico 86-47 on Saturday.

Now in his 17th (and 13th consecutive) season as FLC’s head men’s basketball coach, Hofman is far and away the winningest coach in school history. During his 17 seasons, he’s posted a 310-164 overall record (.654) while leading Fort Lewis to three Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference regular season crowns (1986-87, 2004-05 and 2007-08), four RMAC postseason championships (1986-87, 2001-02, 2007-08 and 2010-11), six RMAC West Division trophies (2001-02, 2002-03, 2004-05, 2005-06, 2006-07 and 2007-08) and seven NCAA Division II playoff berths (2002, 2003, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2011). His most recent NCAA playoff squad advanced to the NCAA Division II Sweet Sixteen in March 2011.
