Hofstra MBB Support Staff Update

Hofstra University Head Men’s Basketball Coach Speedy Claxton announced the rest of his staff as he embarks on his first year at the helm of the Pride.

It will be a trio of familiar faces to the Hofstra community as Colin Curtin will serve as special assistant to the head coach, Andrew Cobian will continue in his role as director of player development and Sean Smith returns as the director of men’s basketball operations.

“This is another great day for our program,” commented Claxton. “Colin, Andrew, and Sean have been huge parts of the success of the Hofstra men’s basketball program and I am thrilled that these three outstanding people will continue with us in these hugely important roles. All three are dedicated members of the Hofstra family and I look forward to them joining us on this journey.”

Curtin has been on staff at Hofstra for eight years and filled a variety of roles for the Pride. He joined the Hofstra staff in 2013 as the director of men’s basketball operations and served in that role for five years before working as the special assistant to the head coach and as an assistant coach during his time in Hempstead.

Now in his sixth year on staff, Cobian spent the first three years at Hofstra as the program’s video coordinator before being elevated to his current role of director of player development.

Smith most recently finished his fourth year at Hofstra and his second as the director of men’s basketball operations. He was a graduate assistant with the program for his first two years.

Curtin is a 2009 graduate of Niagara University with a degree in sports management.

Cobian graduated from Centenary College in Hackettstown, New Jersey in 2011. Cobian also earned his master’s degree in media and communications from Pace University in 2018.

Smith graduated from St. John’s in 2016 with a degree in sports management and a concentration in business administration. Last month he earned his MBA in sports management and a MS in marketing from Hofstra.
