The search at Holy Cross seems to be nearing an end, as the Crusaders are in the hunt for a new head basketball coach after Bill Carmody’s retirement back on June 18th. The late resignation, coupled with the hiring of new AD Marcus Blossom (was hired in May, but officially started yesterday), has made this an interesting search. The first-year AD has been working with Parker Executive Search on this one – they are the same firm that ran HC’s AD search.
It sounds like early candidates John Thompson III and Greg Herenda are no longer in the mix, and the search has narrowed to 4-6 candidates. The names that I have heard are: Marquette associate head coach Brett Nelson, Florida State assistant Dennis Gates, current Holy Cross assistant Joe Kennedy, and a current Ivy League head coach (not hard to figure out). I have heard that at least two of these guys interviewed on campus over the past two days.
It seems like Holy Cross wants someone in place on or before July 10th. More on this one as I hear it…
