HoopDirt.com’s Daily News from the college basketball coaching world…

  • The details of first-year Alabama assistant coach Yasir Rosemond’s recently signed contract were obtained by the Anniston Star. Rosemond, who had spent the past three seasons at Georgia, officially inked a one-year deal worth $250,000 on 10/26. Rosemond will receive a $20,833 bonus (one month’s base salary) should the Crimson Tide win either the Southeastern Conference tournament title or regular-season championship. An NCAA tournament appearance would net him a $20,000 bonus (eight percent of his base salary). Also, according the the Star, Associate head coach John Pelphrey was extended through 2019 and got a salary bump to $425,000. Assistant coach Antoine Pettway got a raise from $210,000 to $275,000. • Some milestone victories recently….

**Matt Painter won his 300th career game on Sunday as Purdue downed IUPUI 86-61. Painter is now 300-149 in 14 years as a head coach and becomes the 15th head coach in NCAA history to record 300 wins in his 14th season or less. Just three active coaches in their 14th year or less have won 300 games (BYU’s Dave Rose, Arizona’s Sean Miller).

**Phoenix College head coach Matt Gordon also won #300. Gordon accomplished the feat at “The Bears’ Den”-PC’s home gymnasium-as his 19th-ranked Bears came from behind to defeat the Eastern Arizona Gila Monsters in overtime, 85-79, in an early-season ACCAC matchup.  Gordon becomes the second head coach in Bears’ Men’s Basketball history to hit the 300-win mark

**Pfeiffer University Head Coach Jeremy Currier earned a milestone victory in Pfeiffer’s (4-0) 129-73 dismantling of Carolina Christian (6-7) on Sunday afternoon. The win was number 100 for Currier, with 93 of those wins coming as the leader of the Falcons program.

  • BONUS DIRT II: In Friday’s Daily News, I gave a little bonus “dirt” regarding NJCAA D1 Northern Oklahoma Enid head coach Greg Shamburg who will not return next year, but will finish out this season. I have now heard from a great source that Shamburg will become the CEO and Director of the Denny Price YMCA in Enid. The posting for the job at NOC-Enid can be found HERE.
