Paine College has named Darryl Stinson Head Men’s Basketball Coach. The move comes after Head Coach Chase Campbell accepted a position on the staff at Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) rival Benedict College at the beginning of August. “We appreciate Coach Campbell’s effort and hard work with our Men’s Basketball program over the past few seasons and we wish him all the best,” stated Selina Kohn, Director of Athletics.

Coach Stinson was the assistant under Coach Campbell during the 2015-16 season. Selina Kohn also stated, “I am happy to have Darryl on our staff and I believe he will do a great job with our student athletes and the program.” Coach Melvin Marshall, the Paine College Head Baseball Coach, has agreed to be Coach Stinson’s assistant basketball coach.

“I would like to thank Selina Kohn, Dr. Samuel Sullivan, and the administration for the opportunity to lead this program,” stated Coach Stinson. “I feel great about the opportunity. I really appreciate Coach Campbell giving me an opportunity to be on his staff last season. I am looking forward to instilling discipline and helping young men graduate from Paine College.”

When asked about the outlook for the 2016-17 season Coach Stinson said, “I want to have a competitive and disciplined team this season. The rest will take care of itself.”
