Corban University head men’s basketball coach Steve Masten has announced his resignation, effective at the end of the 2015-16 campaign.
“It is with mixed emotions that I step away from the Corban men’s basketball team,” said Masten. “The best part of my day is the time I spend with the team at practice, meetings, on the road, and at games. This year’s group is the most enjoyable one I’ve been around. That being said, it is time for me to spend more time with my family, particularly my five grandchildren. I feel that the program is on solid footing and can’t wait to see what they’ll do next year.”
In his four years as the head coach of the Warriors, Masten has guided Corban to a 51-62 overall record with three games remaining in the 2015-16 campaign. His coaching career at Corban included the last three years and one other year-long stint in the late 1990s.
“I would like to thank Steve for his commitment to Corban University as our head men’s basketball coach,” said Corban University Director of Athletics, Greg Eide. “His tenure leading the program will be remembered as one which mirrored the same grittiness and tenacity he displayed during his playing days as a Corban Warrior. We wish Steve and Debbie the best as they enjoy more time with their wonderful family, and in particular, their growing number of grandchildren.”
A national search is now underway to fill the position.
