Oregon State men’s basketball head coach Craig Robinson received a one-year contract extension that takes him through the 2016-17 season, Director of Athletics Bob De Carolis announced.
Robinson has amassed 64 wins in his first four seasons at Oregon State, more than legendary Hall of Fame coaches Slats Gill and Ralph Miller in the same timeframe, and is coming off the Beavers’ first 20-win season and just their second winning campaign since 1989-90.
Robinson took over a program that went 0-18 in conference play during the 2007-08 season and has led it to three postseason appearances, including the College Basketball Invitational (CBI) championship in 2009.
Oregon State went 21-15 last season, led the Pac-12 in scoring for the first time ever with a school record 78.9 points per game and pulled off the biggest upset in Pac-12 Tournament history with an 86-84 win over No. 1 seed Washington.
Robinson’s first recruiting class included guard Jared Cunningham, who became the first Oregon State player selected in the NBA Draft in 14 years when he was the 24th overall selection by the Cleveland Cavaliers before being traded on draft night to the Dallas Mavericks.
Robinson signed a six-year contract when he was hired on April 7, 2008 as the 20th head coach in Oregon State men’s basketball history. He received a two-year contract extension on March 10, 2010.
