Harford men’s basketball head coach Brian Selby announced his decision to resign after his fourth season at the helm of the Fighting Owls.

"I would like to take this time to thank Brian for all that he has done during his time at Harford," Harford Athletics Director Ken Krsolovic said. "He started off as a student-athlete and became an excellent assistant coach before taking control of the program for the past four seasons. He took us to new heights last year, and we wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors."

Selby led the basketball team to a 38-74 mark as the head coach after spending two seasons as the assistant coach. The 2012-13 Fighting Owls reached the MD JUCO Championship game for the first time in school history. That team finished with a 15-16 mark, the best in four seasons for Harford under Selby’s direction.

This season, the Fighting Owls stumbled down the stretch and lost 14 consecutive games to end the season at 5-22.

During his tenure, Selby coached seven all Region XX players, five All-MD JUCO performers and 27 student-athletes that landed on the Harford Athletic Director’s Honor Roll. He also coached one student-athlete that earned CoSIDA Academic All-District honors, the second-highest academic honor any student-athlete can achieve.

Prior to coaching at Harford for six combined seasons, Selby starred on the court during the 2004-06 seasons. He earned All-Region honors in 2006 after averaging 15.3 ppg, 6.2 rpg and 4.1 apg as a sophomore.
