Multiple sources are reporting that Middle Tennessee State head coach Kermit Davis has pulled out of the running at Southern Mississippi. In my experience, this has happened for one of two reasons. 1) He has been told that he’s not getting the job. 2) The more likely scenario….he’s going to get an extension at MTSU.

From what I hear, Friday could be the day that Southern Miss finally makes the announcement. I keep hearing that current associate head coach Steve Barnes, and Wichita State assistant Greg Heiar are the leaders.
