I’ve got this from a great source – it appears that Colby College head coach Dick Whitmore will announce his retirement today after 40 seasons. He amassed 637 wins in his 40 years at Colby which included 31 winning seasons. His Colby teams have reached the post-season 27 times. He was honored as Coach of the Year in Maine six times over four decades (1973, 1975, 1981, 1995, 1997, 2001) and was inducted into the Maine Sports Hall of Fame in 1998. He was also in the inaugural class of the New England Basketball Hall of Fame in 2002. More on this when it becomes official.
