Multiple sources have confirmed that former NBA All-Star Thunder Dan Majerle will be named as the next head coach at Grand Canyon. Majerle spent 8 of his 15 seasons with the Phoenix Suns – he was an All-Star in 1992, 93, and 95. He began this season as an assistant with the Suns, but resigned after head coach Alvin Gentry was fired.

Majerle will replace Russ Pennell who resigned earlier today.

The Special Assistant to the President at GCU is, Jerry Colangelo – he was the owner of the Suns when Majerle played for them.

The official announcement will come Monday morning at 10:00am.
