I have heard that Jackson State has settled on a replacement for the recently retired Tevester Anderson. It sounds like it is between current JSU associate head coach Eric Strothers, and Callaway (MS) HS head coach Wayne Brent.
Strothers has been on the JSU staff for the past 19 seasons. He is a former JSU player who played overseas for a few years before joining the staff in 1994.
Brent has won four State Championships in the last five seasons at Callaway. He was also an assistant at Ole Miss from 1998-2004. Before his time at Ole Miss, he was the head coach at Provine (MS) HS where he also won a State Championship.
My sources tell me that Brent is the choice here, but it appears that we’ll have to wait until Monday to find out. I have heard that JSU will wait until then to make the announcement.
