According to ESPN, Larry Brown is set to become the next head coach at SMU. The hold-up right now appears to be with the hiring of Illinois State head coach Tim Jankovich as Brown’s assistant and apparent coach-in-waiting. Apparently Brown and Jankovich want it in writing that Jankovich will take over whenever Brown decides to leave. Also, according to the ESPN report, former Illinois assistant Jerrance Howard, and current Kentucky assistant Rod Stickland are in line for spots on the staff. Looks like Brown is putting together a crew of heavy hitters. We’ll stay on top of this one.
