Following up on a rumor from last night’s "Daily Dirt"….Scott Scott Sorenson has been named head coach at Northland College.
Sorenson has extensive coaching experience in the Upper Midwest most recently serving as the assistant men’s basketball coach at the University of Minnesota Crookston, an NCAA Division II program in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. Prior to his appointment at UM Crookston, Sorenson served as an assistant coach at Bemidji State University, another Division II school in the NSIC. Sorenson’s assistant coaching experience extends beyond the division II level as he served as an assistant coach at NCAA Division III Lakeland College from 2004 to 2006.
Sorenson has experience coaching in the professional ranks as well, serving as the head coach and general manager of the Niagara Gamblers of the Ontario Professional Basketball Association. He also served as the head coach of the Wilmington Wave Rockers in Wilmington, North Carolina and was an assistant coach for the Landstede Hammers of the Netherlands Basketball League.
Sorenson, replaces Stu Engen who departed Northland after just four weeks on the job.
