Houston Baptist University has hired Jeremy Case as an assistant basketball coach, head coach Ron Cottrell announced Tuesday.
Case comes to HBU after spending three years as an assistant coach at Southeast Missouri State and one season as a graduate assistant at Kansas, his alma mater.
He played in 94 games at Kansas from 2004-08 for coach Bill Self and was a member of the Jayhawks’ 2008 national championship team. He was also a member of four Big 12 regular-season and three tournament championship teams. During his career, the Jayhawks made three appearances in the NCAA Tournament Elite Eight, including their title run.
Case was a two-time Academic All-Big 12 first-team honoree and earned Athletic Director’s and Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll recognition five times. He graduated with a degree in communications from Kansas in 2007.
He is the son of Win Case, who is currently an assistant coach at Middle Tennessee State, and Rita Newton, who played college basketball at Seminole State (Okla.) Junior College.
