The search for Tom Penders replacement has really begun to heat up. Lat Friday, former Kentucky head coach Billy Gillispie met with UH Athletic Director Mack Rhoades. The two worked together at UTEP when Gillispie was the head coach there and Rhoades was the executive senior associate athletics director. There are some reservations about Gillespies past which seem to be holding up the talks.
Also, I can confirm that there has been some dialogue between UH and former USC head coach Tim Floyd. They have not met face to face yet, but there appears to be interest on both sides.
Former Sam Houston coach Bob marlin was interviewed before he decided to take the UL-Lafayette job.
Clippers assistant John Lucas (who has coached 3 NBA teams) has publically expressed interest in the job, but has not been contacted. Also Texas assistant Rodney Terry and Villanova assistant Chris Walker may be in the mix if it falls through with both Gillispie and Floyd.
