INTERIM TAG REMOVED: Chiazor named Head Basketball Coach at NJCAA Cecil College

Cecil College Director of Athletics Ed Durham announced that the interim tag has been dropped from Emeka Chiazor’s title, making him the program’s head men’s basketball coach. Chiazor was previously named Cecil’s interim head men’s basketball coach back on Sept. 22.

Chiazor has led the Seahawks to an 11-8 record so far this season, including a pair of lengthy win streaks wrapped around the holiday break. Under his watch, Cecil has produced two of the top scorers within Region 20 in Marcus Edmond Jr. (18.8. ppg) and Jeremiah Falko (16.8 ppg). Edmond Jr. also leads R20 in free throw percentage (89.4%), while Falko’s 5.6 assists per game plants him atop the region as well.

Chiazor joined Cecil’s coaching staff prior to the 2024-25 season. Under former head coach Ed Durham, he helped guide the Seahawks to a 23–8 record and the No. 2 seed the Region 20 D2 tournament. His previous coaching stops include Harford Community College and Howard Community College, as well as a stint under Ron “Fang” Mitchell at Coppin State University.
