Sitting at the beach when I heard from a great source that former Maine associate head coach Doug Leichner has been hired as an assistant at Iona. Leichner is also currently the head coach of Great Britain’s under 20 National Team. He has had two separate stints at Maine and spent a combined 9 seasons on the Black Bears staff. Leichner has also been the head coach of the UCC Demons in Cork Ireland, and had served as a HS coach in Florida. It sounds like he has started at Iona this week.
