IPFW head men’s basketball coach Tony Jasick has announced that Director of Basketball Operations Ryan Sims has been promoted to assistant coach, and former Mastodon standout John Peckinpaugh has been named a graduate manager.
"Putting together a coaching staff is critical to the continued growth of our program," said Jasick. "I am excited about working with these guys as we look to build on our record-setting success. There is no doubt that seeing our student-athletes succeed on and off the court is a shared priority of the entire coaching staff."
Sims is in his second season with the men’s basketball program, spending the first two as Director of Basketball Operations. A former standout with Bowling Green and the University of Indianapolis, the Fort Wayne native was a McDonald’s All-American nominee his senior season of high school after averaging 20 points and six assists per game.
"Ryan has worked hard over the past two years and is a valuable member of our coaching staff," said Jasick. "He’s a loyal, hard-working guy who has prepared himself for this type of opportunity. His relationships with our players as well as coaches around the state will be a huge asset to our program."
Peckinpaugh graduated from IPFW in 2012 after playing in 107 games – starting 60 – for the team. The hard-nosed player ended his career with 303 rebounds and 51 steals. The Muncie, Ind. native spend all of last season on the coaching staff at Indiana Tech.
"I’m excited about bringing John back as a member of our coaching staff," said Jasick. "He was a relentless competitor for us during his playing days and takes great pride in IPFW Basketball. His experience as a coach and a former player will be extremely valuable to our student-athletes."
