Ishmael Turner has joined the College of Charleston men’s basketball program as video coordinator, as announced by head coach Earl Grant on Tuesday.

Prior to C of C, Turner served as incumbent manager of basketball operations and player personnel for the Charleston Southern men’s basketball program and head coach Barclay Radebaugh. There, he oversaw two other student assistants, shaped student-athletes’ scheduled workouts, booked travel and meals for the team and supervised study hall. He will serve in a similar role with the Cougars.

“Ishmael is a very high-character young man,” Grant said. “He comes to our program with great experience having worked at CSU as an undergraduate and our basketball camps over the years. He has shown great communication skills when dealing with student-athletes and has a desire to get into coaching in the future. We are really excited about his addition to our staff.”

Turner also worked as a personal trainer for Summerville Family YMCA at The Ponds and a summer camp counselor for Barclay Radebaugh and Earl Grant Basketball Camps.

Originally from Summerville, S.C., Turner earned his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology with a minor in psychology from Charleston Southern University in May of 2015. He is a IFTA certified personal trainer (CPR/AED certified) and a member of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM).
