Jackson State Staff Update

Ben Walker and De’Suan Dixon have been named as assistant coaches of the Jackson State men’s basketball program.

Walker comes to JSU following a successful stint as an assistant coach with the Butler Grizzlies. In his only season with the Grizzlies, Walker helped Butler win the Jayhawk West Conference title and reached the NJCAA Division I National Tournament. That team broke school records for most regular season wins (28), conference wins in a season (14), highest winning percentage (87.9%) and started off 22-0 breaking the schools modern era winning streak of 20 straight wins. Walker played collegiately at Creighton University, where he helped the Bluejays reach the National Invitational Tournament, as well as three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances. He was a two-time All-Missouri Valley Conference selection and was named to the MVC All-Tournament Team in 2000. He was inducted into the Creighton Athletic Hall of Fame in 2010 and is among the top 10 players in school history in steals and rebounds.

Following a two year hiatus from the program, Dixon returns to the Tigers program as an assistant coach. Prior to joining the staff, first as a graduate assistant and currently as an assistant coach, he was a member of the JSU men’s basketball program from 2007-2011. In 2010, he was a member of the team that helped lead the Tigers to a 19-13 overall record and a first place finish in the Southwestern Athletic Conference with a 17-1 record.
