Jake Luhn has been named director of basketball operations Northern Kentucky University head coach John Brannen has announced. Luhn brings extensive experience at the Division I level as an assistant coach.
“I can’t tell you how excited we are to welcome Jake, his wife Jodi, and their children, JJ, John and Julia,” said Brannen. “Getting the opportunity to bring someone with the experience and expertise as Jake really signifies how much our program has grown. Jake will provide an intense work ethic, great basketball knowledge and perspective that will continue to strengthen our staff.”
Luhn most recently served as associate head coach at Longwood University, where he spent five years on staff. He was the first hire for Jayson Gee when Gee took the helm of the Lancers’ program in 2013. At Longwood, Luhn was involved in every aspect of the program, from recruiting, scouting and player development to scheduling, community outreach, fundraising and monitoring academic progress for Lancers’ men’s basketball student-athletes.
He developed a reputation as an impact recruiter and served as the primary coach for the wings.
Luhn worked with Gee at St. Bonaventure, where Luhn spent time as the director of operations from 2003-06 before being named an assistant coach for the 2006-07 season. Between his stints with the Bonnies and Lancers, the Melbourne, Florida, native served as CEO of LifeStyle Home Builders, Inc.
A 2002 graduate of UMASS Boston, Luhn was a three-year letterman and two-year captain, earning a degree in exercise science and physical education. He also earned a master’s of business administration in 2004 at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
