Jake Shechtman, who served as a graduate manager with the Temple men’s basketball program the last two seasons, has been named the Owls’ video coordinator, announced head coach Fran Dunphy.

“Jake has proven to be a tremendously hard worker over the last two years and he demonstrated that he is more than ready to handle our video coordinator role,” said Dunphy.  “He has firsthand experience of how our staff operates and has worked closely with Chris Clark, who handled this role last year.”

“I would like to thank Coach Dunphy for this incredible opportunity,” said Shechtman. “I have learned so much from him the last two years as a member of his staff.  I look forward to working alongside him and the rest of the staff to help continue the success of the Temple men’s basketball program.”

A 2009 graduate of Skidmore College, Shechtman arrived at Temple after serving three years as the head boys basketball coach and history teacher at Highland School in Warrenton, Va.  At Highland, he was named the 2013 Conference Coach of the Year and guided his 2014 squad to the state quarterfinals.  His teams compiled a 52-26 won-loss record in his tenure.

In the summer of 2015, Shechtman was an assistant coach for the USA-16 team that won a silver medal at the Maccabiah Games in Israel.

A four-year varsity letterwinner at Skidmore, the Wynnewood, Pa., native served as the team captain as a senior in 2008-09. He earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology in 2009 and recently completed his master’s degree in educational leadership at Temple (2016).
