Jacksonville State Head basketball coach Ray Harper announced the addition of James Haring to his 2017-18 staff Monday, naming Haring the Gamecocks’ coordinator of basketball operations.

Haring will oversee the administrative duties of the JSU men’s basketball program including team travel, budgeting, daily scheduling and equipment needs.

“I am excited to be a Gamecock,” Haring said. “It will be a privilege to get to work with Coach Harper and the entire JSU community.”

Prior to his move to Jacksonville, Haring spent the 2016-17 season at the University of Illinois as head coach John Groce’s director of basketball operations. He also served two seasons as a graduate assistant with the Fighting Illini.

He earned the title of head manager during his senior year in 2014. He also served on the event staff of the LeBron James and Kevin Durant skills academies in the summer of 2013, and was named ProCamps Intern of the Year in the summer of 2012.

A native of New Lenox, Illinois, Haring graduated summa cum laude from West Virginia University with a bachelor’s degree in sport management in 2014 and earned a master’s degree in educational policy studies from the University of Illinois in 2016.
