Jared Czech joins the Air Force men’s basketball program for the 2020-21 season as an assistant coach, according to a release from Head Coach Joe Scott. Czech comes to the Academy from Columbia University.
“Jared is a tireless worker. His passion and energy make him a perfect fit with our staff,” Scott said. “He has a great understanding of what we’ll be doing at the Academy, both on and off the court. His experience will make him a vital part of our staff.”
“I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity to join Coach Scott’s staff,” Czech said. “Coach Scott has been one of my most influential mentors both professionally and personally. I look forward to coaching and helping our student-athletes as we re-energize the Air Force basketball program.”
Czech spent the previous four seasons as an assistant coach at Columbia under head coach Jim Engles. Czech’s primary responsibilities for the Lions included recruiting and player development. Czech was also part of Engles’ staff at NJIT as his director of operations in 2014-15.
In between his year with NJIT and Columbia, Czech was named Director of Hoop Group Elite Camp, the world’s largest basketball instructional organization in 2015.
Czech was on Joe Scott‘s staff during the 2013-14 season as a graduate manager at the University of Denver. First involved with coaching when he was a high school student at St. Patrick’s in Elizabeth, New Jersey, Czech entered college coaching as a student assistant at Manhattanville College in Purchase, New York.
He also coached AAU basketball with the highly-regarded NYC Gauchos program.
Czech is the third addition to Scott’s staff, joining associate head coach Sydney Johnson and assistant coach David Metzendorf.
