Villanova today announced several coaching staff role changes ahead of the 2017-18 campaign.
George Halcovage, who came to the Wildcats as a graduate assistant in 2008, moves from the role of Director of Basketball Operations to Assistant Coach. He joins Ashley Howard and Kyle Neptune, both of whom have served in that capacity with the program since 2013, in that role. This move fills the vacancy created when former Associate Head Coach Baker Dunleavy became the head coach at Quinnipiac.
“George is a longtime member of our staff who has been ready for this position for a long time,” stated Villanova head coach Jay Wright, who enters his 17th season as Wildcats’ mentor in 2017-18. “We are excited about him taking the next step in his career at Villanova.”
Former standout Wildcats guard Mike Nardi (2003-07) is now the Director of Basketball Operations after serving last season as the Video Coordinator. Nardi held the title of Director of Program Development in VU’s 2015-16 NCAA national championship season.
“It’s great to have a player of Mike’s caliber working his way up on our staff,” said Wright. “He is a talented coach with a bright future in our business.”
Mike Clark, a former student manager who spent the past two years as a graduate manager, is the program’s new Video Coordinator. Clark will also have duties in the areas of branding and marketing of the program.
“Mike has been in our program for six years and continues to impress everyone on our staff,” Wright stated. “Mike is extremely creative in his field of branding, marketing and video and we have already benefitted from his skill in those areas.”
The Wildcats earned BIG EAST regular season and tournament championships in 2016-17 while on route to earning the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament (32-4). The 2017-18 season begins in November.
