Mark Jensen who just completed his first year at the helm of the Whittier College Men’s Basketball team in the interim was officially announced as the Head Men’s Basketball Coach Thursday.
Jensen completed the 2017-18 season 10-15, 8-8 SCIAC and finished 5th in the final Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) standings.
Jensen stated that “I am thankful that Rob has put his trust in me and my staff going forward – this really is a dream for me, and we will work tirelessly to give our players the best experience they can have and try to make everyone associated with Poet Basketball proud.”
During the season he saw two players earn SCIAC Athlete of the Week honors, which included Louis Kurihara and Eric Davis. He also saw Kurihara named 2nd Team All-SCIAC.
On the season his team posted the highest scoring percentage within the conference at 82.7 points per game, No. 1 in in steals per game at 7.1, No. 3 in rebounding at 38.9 rebounds per game, and No. 2 in blocks per game at 4.7.
