The Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach reports to the Head Men’s Basketball Coach and is responsible for assisting the Head Coach in carrying out all activities necessary to accomplish the objectives of this sport within the guidelines of the NCAA, Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) and the University.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

-Serves as the Recruiting Coordinator for the recruiting efforts of the men’s basketball program.
-Provide instruction to basketball student-athletes on the fundamentals, details and strategies of basketball as assigned by the Head Coach.
-Assists Head Coach in the development of individual game plans.
-Serves as the scouting coordinator for the men’s basketball program and effectively organizes the scouting efforts of other teams.
-Adhere to all policies and regulations of the Director of Athletics, University, OVC and NCAA.
-Assist the Head Coach with scheduling basketball games.
-Serves as the community service coordinator/supervisor for the men’s basketball program; completing schedule and appearance requests throughout the community.
-Assist with the marketing and promotion of basketball.
-Counsel student athletes in sport participation, personal development and academics.
-Work with the Admissions Office to enroll student-athletes.
-Serves as the Housing Coordinator for the men’s basketball program. Housing office liaison, ensuring that student-athletes have properly secured residence and the necessary information with the University Housing office.
-Assist in monitoring student-athlete’s academic progress.
-In consultation with University Advancement and the Athletic Director, assist in fundraising in both basketball and with major fund raisers in the Athletic Department.
-Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
