The Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach will assist the Head Coach with all duties of successfully operating our men’s basketball program, including but not limited to recruiting student-athletes, and assisting with training sessions/game preparation/game-day coaching.

Responsibilities:

This position reports to the Head Men’s Basketball Coach.  The position receives specific assignments from and assists the Head Coach in performing any or all of the duties listed below:

  • Plan and direct athletics skill development for student-athletes.
  • Recruit student-athletes compatible with Lawrence University’s mission and the specific goals of the men’s basketball program.
  • Assist in developing pre-season, in-season and off-season training for the team with the Head Coach and Athletic Performance Coach.
  • Assist in advising student-athletes and staff of applicable NCAA, MWC, and basketball specific rules, regulations, and University policies and ensure compliance of such regulations.
  • Ensure appropriate safety measures are observed when conducting team activities.
  • Cooperate with the University Athletic Trainers to ensure student-athletes receive proper medical and physical training services.
  • Help coordinate activities in preparation for scheduled competition.
  • Attend team practices and home and away contests.
  • Assume responsibility to student-athlete compliance with all applicable rules and regulations.  Assist the Head Coach and the Athletics Director in resolving cases where a student-athlete violates an applicable regulation.

Qualifications:

  • Successful coaching or playing experience.
  • Ability to recruit qualified student-athletes.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
