| Description: | Job Summary:
This position will assist with recruiting qualified high school and junior college athletes for the Men’s Basketball Program by traveling to various schools to scout games to assess the skills and abilities of potential student athletes; assist the Head Coach in running team practices; teaching offensive and defensive concepts, and drills; provide group and one-one-one instruction; assist in player development; and remain informed on student athletes’ academic progress; assist with complying with all university NCAA and CIAA policies and regulations in managing the Men’s Basketball Program; assist in facilitating the student athletes’ progression toward obtaining degrees in defined academic programs; assist with recording statistics for each game; assist with the fiscal and budgetary functions associated with the Men’s Basketball Program; assist with making travel arrangements for the team at other institutions; scheduling departure and arrival times; making hotel accommodations and providing information to visiting coaches; assist in the conditioning and weight training program and ensuring student athletes’ progress and adherence to the activities which comprise the program; assist in maintaining the integrity of the Men’s Basketball Program.
Assist in the logistical planning for New Student Orientation Program to include: 1) manage transportation arrangements for new students and parents around campus; 2) pick-up and delivery of materials for NSO registration, placement testing and building sites; 3) set up for campus wide fair; assist in proctoring placement tests when needed (May – August). Also, will supervise evening and weekend student activities and events as needed (March – September) in Williams Hall or the Bowling Center; assist with Viking Fest and Homecoming activities. |
